The textile industries are the main industries in Zhejiang province. In Zhejiang, the cloth products of dyeing and finishing industries reached 1.6088×10~9 m in 2004, which was about 53.34 % of the national products, and it increased by 22.44%, compared with the year before. The whole waste water produced by dyeing and finishing industries was about 1.9 × 10~8 m~3 . The amount of waste water was about 1.0 × 10~8m~3. However, the average reusing rate is less than 10%.In order to meet the need of the sustainable development in Zhejiang, we try to find a significant approach for saving water in the process of dying and finishing with the methods of clean production.This article tries to analyze the technological process in the dyeing and finishing industries by starting with the cleaner production in cotton dyeing and finishing. It was discussed how to save water by analyzing the logistics of the Inventory about the fetched water and poured water in each procedure and how to design saving water reticulation systems. The flow analysis showed the main waste water product sections which were include calendering dyeing replace yejegg, transfering printing technology, coater dyeing or coater printing, ultrafilter recycling deoxidizing dyestuff, mercerization diluted alkali recycling, pretreatment cotton by cool, calender and boodle technics, extracting lanolin from waster water of washing wool and gray water reuse. The action of clean production was assessed by saving the amounts of water and COD reduced, such as about1.28 × 10~8m~3 water, 1.6 × 10~5 t COD reduced, 2.56 × 10~4 t the recycled dyeing material, 1.49 × 10~5t alkali.Cleaner production will be of great significance to moderate the problem of water shortage in printing and dyeing industries in Zhejiang Province, and to make the industries developing in a way of good cycle.
