It is pressingly demanded to accelarate the researching and applyingof the new technology for equipment inspection and repair—risk basedinspection(RBI) in China, which was introduced into from abroad several years ago, to achieve a balance between the inspection and repair costs and economic benefits. Then, the situation of "high maintenance costs, short running period" can be changed and the long-period running of petrochemical equipment can be accomplished soon after. In this paper, based on an overall review of the basic concept, the importance and the recent research finding of RBI, especially to the RBI for petrochemical equipment, some main work are carried out as follows:(1) The assessment framework of RBI for petrochemical equipment is summarized, including analysis steps such as hazard identification, assessment of failure likelihood and failure consequence, calculation of risk, and so on. Then, the qualitative analysis and the quantitative analysis of equipment risk are both analyzed in detail.(2) According the principle of establishing assessment index system,...
