Manganese oxide and hydroxid belong to manganese ores with sandwhich and porous structure were discovered at the 18th century. However there are little studies on environmental attribute and mechanism of removing contaminations up to the present. This paper analyses ingredient of manganese mineral, then which treating sulfide and dye in wastewater and sulfureted hydrogen in gas by its environmental attribute-oxidation function, and studies some factors effecting disposing sulfur and dyes's wastewater by manganese mineral and discusses process mechanism. The manganese mineral contains 44.79% total manganese and 73.81% MnO2;Removal efficiency of sulfur is obviously influenced by pH value of solution, surful concentration and HRT by manganese mineral, the efficiency can excess 95% when ranularity is 2.5mm, pH is 2.5, HRT is 2 h and solution concentration is 200mg/L;Decoloration can excess 95% for 250ml 40mg/L GR by manganese mineral, compared with other facors pH is the most important role in decoloration of acidic scarlet GR, dosage and granularity of mineral, temperature, and vibration speed have little effects on decoloration. The major products of oxidating sulfur by manganese mineral are pure S and MnS2, and thiosulfate and sulfate are little. Acdic scarlet GR is only oxidated partly by manganese mineral and can not be removed from solution thoroughly, namely GR's chromogenic -N=N- were oxidated by =Mnâ…£-O of mineral.
