Eco-environmental water demand has been a hot issue in water resources and water environmental protection research in the last few years."Neglecting the relations between water resources and the ecosystem"is a fault of water resources management in the 20th century, which directly causes many questions: the degeneration of ecosystem, the demolishment of the habitat of the wild biology, the withering of the river and wetness, the degradation of the self cleaning of water bodies and so on. Facing the difficulty, people re-examine the policy of water resources management and gradually realize the importance of eco-environmental water demand. It is the realization of the harmonious disposition between eco-environmental water demand and the humanity water demand that human beings are in pursuit of in the 21st century. Eco-environmental demand theory is generated under the instruction of the pattern of new water resources thought which takes the reasonable natural environment protection as the premise, carries on reasonable development of water resources, prevents ecological environment from further worsening and realizes sustainable use of water resources. How to assign water resources effectively and provide suitable eco-environmental water amount as safeguarding production water supply and domestic water, which is a problem urgent to be solved. The river system is one of the most important natural ecosystems. It is not only closely related to the humanity but also the aspect widely studied about eco-environmental water demand around the world.According to methods of eco-environmental water demand in river course at present and the characteristic of the Huifa River, this article utilizes suitable computational methods to calculate and limit eco-environmental water demand about main current of the Huifa River course to maintain the present situation. The eco-environmental water demand of the Huifa River mainly includes three parts: the basic eco-environmental water demand, water demand for losing sand and environmental water demand. The water demand after computation together with the water demand for losing sand and is the eco-environmental water demand of the Huifa River. Its total result is 33.1 (108m3), which covers 80% of the total annual flow quantity. The computed result of the environmental water demand is bigger indicating that the main current of the Huifa River is seriously polluted and urgent to be governed. The key point is to propose the concrete measures and suggestions for water pollution about the main current of the Huifa River. At the same time, this dissertation also provides more references for later research on eco-environmental water demand.
