With the development of the society and improvement of living standard, auto production and sale is increasing steadily all of the world. By the year 2010, the auto industry production capacity will have reached 10 million in our country. Auto industry is a major end use for industrial textiles.Flame-compound method is mainly used for producing auto decorative cushion;the technique emblazes polyurethane foam, then compounds the fabric. The most serious defect of the technique is that foam will give out poisonous odor when it is burning, which can pollute environment and do damage to workers' health. Compared to flame-compound method, heat melt-compound method has many advantages, which can achieve soft hand feel, environment friendly and do no harm to workers. In this paper we use flat vulcanizer, PES resinheat-melt bond, warp-spacer fabric and warp knitted fabric to execute auto cushion.Cushion can be considered as second cloth for people, because when you are seated and perspiration, your body touches cushion. If cushion is made of thick polyurethane foam, it can be a barrier for perspiration, while if the cushion is made of warp-knitted spacer fabric, it yields better permeability. The reason lies in the special face construction and three dimensional weave, which can have smaller opening ratio than sponge. Also, because two sizes are connected by yarns, when air flows, resistance is much littler than sponge.This paper compares the tensile strength between warp-knitted spacer fabric cushion and sponge cushion, the former performs stronger tensile strength than the latter. Yarn count and fabric density are factors influencing warp-knitted spacer fabric tensile strength. The tear strength between the two cushions is close, which is different from tensile strength..Compressibility is tested by compress machine, the disadvantage of polyurethane foam is that it will be stress centralize when enduring whisht load, warp-knitted spacer fabric is better, because for spacer fabric, any tension due to uneven face will be dispersed or absorbed by elastic spacer yarn, this contributes to the limitation of stress centralize. However, polyurethane foam can have amortized effect when pressed,while spacer fabric is lack of this ability.We also analyze the compress curve, sponge cushion curve can be carved up for three parts, they are linearity change section, plastic dent section and compact change section. Warp-knitted spacer fabric curve is more complicated than sponge cushion, during the compress process, elastic modulus varies. As a result of slippage of spacer fabric connection points, which disperses stress and stops force from centralizing,The conclusion we have got and the work we have done in the paper will do a great help to understand the properties of the warp-knitted spacer fabric. Also, they possess a certain reference value for practical production.
