With the extensive application of the three-dimension textile composites in industry field, more and more researchers have paid attention to the structure of 3D fabric. It is difficult for textile designers about how to describe the geometric structure of 3D fabric properly and how to thick out its structure quickly.In this paper, we classify the structure of 3D woven fabric, and then analyze multi-layer fabric mainly, classify the multi-layer fabric to four sorts: layer-to-layer bound 3D orthogonal fabric, through thickness bound 3D orthogonal fabric, layer-to-layer bound 3D angle-interlock fabric, through thickness bound 3D angle-interlock fabric. By analyzing the structures of this four sorts, nine parameters are proposed to represent the structures of multi-layer fabric. Under some geometrical and processing contains, the mathematical relation of the nine parameters is established. Further study indicates that four out of the nine parameters [n, d, r, l] are necessary to represent the structure of multi-layer fabric, and a given fabric is correspond to the only set parameters [n, d, r, l]. Warp position array, a new means of expressing multi-layer weave, is borrowed in this paper, then change the warp position array into [0, 1] array.At last, this paper develops a software to design the structure and looming illustration of multi-layer fabric by VisualBasic. By enter the four independent parameters [n, d, r, l] to draw the lengthwise section of structure and its looming illustration on the computer.There are some practical significance of the software developed in this paper, because it saves designers more time and energy for multi-layer fabric design.
