Preparation And Characterization Of New Tpye Of BAF Packing

Water resource is a precious natural resource and essential condition that human relys on existence. Process of wastewater treatment was just arisened by use of Biological Aerated Filter (BAF) in recent years. Filter media is the key subject of BAF process. It has the direct effect to virtue of BAF, and affected the structure and cost for wastewater treatment .The stricter the standards of environmental protection are day by day, the more urgent it is to develop new, low-cost and high-efficient water treatment materials.Bentonite, which is rich in Guangxi province, was used as a main material to develop a new type of biological aerated filter (BAF) packing. By investigating the effects of different ingredients and preparing techniques on the physical characters of the packing, it showed that after grading the bentonite, added with adhesive, pore-forming agent and Na-modified agent, the new spherical porous packing of bentonite was prepared through Na-modifled, molding, drying and burning.
