Ion exchange resins were widely used recently in different departments of industry. Polystyrene (PS) as a support has been applied in a wide domain, which was prepared by copolymerizing with polystyrene and DVB. In this paper, polystyrene diethanolamine resin (PS-Ace-DEA) and carboxylic polystyrene (PS-COOH) were synthesized with PS as the supporter and their applications were studied also. This paper reports that the new polystyrene diethanolamine resin (PS-Ace-DEA) was synthesized by the reaction of chloracetylated polystyrene (PS-Ace-Cl) instead of chloromethylated polystyrene (PS-CH2-Cl) with diethanolamine (DEA). In this method the neighboring group effect played an important role, the carcinogenic compounds (chloromethyl ether and dichloromethyl ether) were avoided and the reactions of secondary cross-link and multi-substitute could be eliminated. The conditions of reaction such as temperature, swelling and reaction time were studied as well as quantity of reagent. The loading of obtained hydroxylamine resin was up to 3.41mmol·g-1 by the optimal condition.PS-Ace-DEA was used to adsorb cupric ion. The adsorption kinetic and isotherms for Cu2+ were studied. The results showed that the adsorption capacity increased as the increasing loading of the product and was steady in the environment with the pH value between 5.6 and 10.5. The Cu2+ adsorption quantity was 3.79 mmol·g-1 and the adsorption rate of the resin to cupric ions was up to 93.81%. PS-Ace-DEA was also used to adsorb chrome ion. The effect of pH and concentration of Cr6+ solution have been studied.carboxylic crosslinked polystyrene (PS-COOH) microsphere has been prepared by Friedel-Crafts acylation with phthalic anhydride. Obtained product was characterized by FT-IR, CP/NMR and swelling degree. The effects of reaction time, temperature, quantity of catalyzer and solvent were studied as well as degree of cross-linking of polystyrene .The result indicated that:50℃, 3-10h and n(AlCl3):n(PA)=3 : 1 were the optimal condition ; the product could be refined by...
