Research On Path Selection Of Ecological Modernization In Our Country

Entering the 21st century, the modernization of our country has alreadyexperienced an important development history, the special national condition andspecial historical inheritance decide the particularity in promoting the modernizationprocess of our country, namely, higher demand for modernization in information age isoverlaid while achieving the industrialization, it has obvious duality character, therefore,the criterion of industry modernization can not be simply used for measuring therealization degree of modernization of our country, and the criterion ofscience-technology and information era should be paid more attention on. As animportant characteristic of second modernization, Ecological modernization is more andmore important in the modernization process. The first 20 years of this century is notonly the period of strategic opportunities for development in our country, but also theperiod with most outstanding contradiction between human and nature. At present,environment situation is still serious in our country, all kinds of pollution incidentsoccurred frequently, ecological disaster is aggravating, and hazard level of pollution israising, those has influenced life of people and stability of society seriously. Buildingharmonious society and constructing new-type relation between human and nature,these are more urgent and important at present than any moment.There are two radically different approaches in dealing with the problem ofenvironment and development: one trades environment damage and waste of resourcesfor economy growth; and the other optimizes economy growth mode by environmentprotecting and resources recycling, that is, environment protecting as a mean tooptimize and promote economy growth, then to accomplish a dual propose ofharmonious development between environment protecting and economy. How to avoid the first approach and select the second to achieve sustainable development of economyand society, which is not only an important project before us, but also an imperiousdemand to implement the scientific concept of development. During the development ofmodernization of our country, people under the stress of economy growth andproductivity development, they have a one-side understanding of the connotation ofdevelopment, which has led to heavy cost of ecological, high consumption of energyand pollution of environment, a series of social problems ensued from those, and soattracted attention of government, a series of regulations and policies were constituted.Generation of ecological modernization theory provides a theoretical basis for thesolving of ecological environment problem. However, it appears blind obedience in theprocess of facing ecological crisis and solving ecological problem, and application ofecological modernization theory is lack of accumulate of successful experiences.Therefore, actively exploring and scientifically research of the path selection ofecological modernization in our country has theoretically directive significance andpractical value..There are 5 parts in the thesis:Part 1 is introduction, a general introduction to the thesis. At first it describes themeaning of thesis, and then makes a theoretically summary of previous researches toprobe deeply into the research situation of earlier on the problem, so that lays thefoundation for further research of the thesis.Part 2 mainly interprets theory perspective of the path selection of ecologicalmodernization. Four aspects are exactly discussed as follow: (1) background and reasonof the generation of ecological modernization thought; (2) main connotative anddevelopment stages of ecological modernization; (3) main contents of ecologicalmodernization; (4) several representative theories of ecological modernization.Part 3 discusses inspiration of ecological modernization theory to the path selectionof ecological modernization in our country, mainly instructed as the following aspects:(1) present status of ecological environment in our country, which analyzes five majorecological environment problems in the country; (2) environment pollution has reducedto a certain extent, but still have a number of problems in the solving process; (3) inspiration of ecological modernization theory to the decisions of environment anddevelopment in our country.Part 4 deals with the three principles should be conformed in path selection of ourecological modernization: first, proceeding from actual situation to cognize andunderstand the fundamental realities of the country correctly; second, theimplementation of ecological modernization should be combined with traditionalculture of our country; last, sticking to the principle of coordinative development,including the relations of human and nature, economy and society should be handledappropriately.Part 5 treats of the path selected at present ecological modernization of our country indetail: construct resource-conserving society and environment-friendly society; developsmall cities and towns, track the path of new-typed urbanization features; stick to newindustrialization, and further illustrate the scientific of the selection of the three paths byanalyzing its connotative and exploring implementation necessity and great strategicallysignificance.
