For the purpose of improving sinter quality of Baogang, the sintering basic characteristics of iron ore were studied by a mini-sintering test device in this paper.Firstly, the sintering basic characteristics of six kinds of iron ores of Baogang in common use,which included assimilation, liquid phase fluidity, self-intensity of bonding phase, generation of SFCA and crystal-intensity ,were investigated.It was found that the sintering basic characteristics of different iron ore are different obviously. Iron ore containing fluorin of Baogang have the lower assimilation temperature,the higher fluidity index,the lower self-intensity of bonding phase,the poorer generation of SFCA and the stronger crystal-intensity than others.Secondly,on the basis of grasping basic characteristics of iron ore of Baogang, the sintering basic characteristics of iron ore were researched from three different aspects.It involved the changes about the content of MgO,SiO2 and CaO of iron ore. Affecting mechanism were probed in order to improving the lower assimilation temperature ,reducing liquid fluidity index and enhancing self-intensity of bonding phase.The test results showed that the proper content of MgO could reduce fluidity index , increase generation of SFCA and enhance self-intensity of bonding phase. Under this experimental condiction,it was suitable that the content of MgO was about 2.2 %. When the content of SiO2 was 5.0 %,sinter could be gained with proper fluidity and the best Self-intensity of bonding phase.With the increasing of CaO, temperature of generating fluidity was reduced and fluidity index was increased. But it is comparatively complicated that the content of CaO influenced on Self-intensity of bonding phase. Self-intensity of bonding phase was maximal under basicity 2.1.At the same time,the quantity of SFCA was the most. So we could see that it was advantageous to improving sinter quality of the proper content of MgO,SiO2 and CaO.In this paper,the science basis were provided for optimizing sintering production and improving sinter quality based on researching of the sintering basic characteristics of iron ore.
