Recently, foreign iron concentrates are largely imported by domestic steel plants. However, the grade and characteristic of these concentrates are different, which results in the quality of domestic sinter quite different. Therefore, how to achieve the superior metallurgical properties of sinter has become the primary task for ironmaking researchers.In order to guide the iron and steel enterprises using ores in Anshan area in matching iron ore concentrates reasonably, this topic is based on the sintering characteristics of iron ore concentrates, aimed at improving the sinter properties and decreasing the cost of the sintered production. So to achieve those goals, two kinds of iron ore concentrate in an shan region and three kinds abroad are analyzed.First, the assimilation, liquid flow, intensity of binding phase and producing characteristics of calcium ferrite about five iron ore concentrates are studied respectively. It is shown in the results that the chemical composition, producing area and mineral powder characteristics of iron ore concentrate make sintering temperature characteristics different. Among those five concentrates, the self-producing concentrate is the best. The lowest assimilation temperature is 1250℃, the liquid phase fluidity at 6.84, intensity of binding phase in iron concentrates at 1073 N, and the amount of formed calcium ferrite accounting for 40%.Secondly, the basic performances of sinter are analyzed and 3 principles of concentrate matching have been achieved, namely characteristic of the primary and secondary,complementary characteristic and origin complementary. Combined with basic performances of 5 different iron ore concentrates, 9 optimized schemes of ore matching are formulated. After experiments of ore matching optimization, basic performances of mixed ore and price of the ore all over the world are analyzed,the best ore matching optimization is got and the ratio of self-produced ore is 50%, the An qian ore is 20%, the brazil ore B is 15%, the Australian ore is 10%, and the brazil ore is 5%.
