Referring to previous research results, taking Shanxi province as the studying region, the article analyses the present situation, the cause and the Countermeasures of the sandification on the basis of field surveys and consulting materials.1. The brief review is made on research progress of sandification at home and abroad, and the practical significance of research is expounded. The major part of Shanxi province is located in the edge or the interlacing zone of pastures and farmlands of North China, and the characteristics of its natural environment are instability, vulnerability, variability and sensitivity. Shanxi is one of more serious provinces in the sandification harms, so the sandification has become Shanxi people's internal danger.2. The simple introduction of the related theories of sandification is made, including the concept, the connotation, the classification, the harms, the controlling significance, and it carries on the brief analysis of the connotation and the harms, and also carries out the necessity and the urgency of this research. 3. By analyzing present situation and the dynamic change of sandification of Shanxi province, through the accurate data, although the total sandification areas of Shanxi province assume the deflation trend, it illustrates the mobile sand and the rush field area are on the increase in ten years, the entire sandification area accounts for 4.5% in the national territory area in Shanxi province, and also the sandstorm is harm on 20% land, and the total loss value of sandification is 38,989 billion RMB. So it needs to continue to combat for sandification4. It analyses the natural and human factors of the sandification in Shanxi province, the natural factors including: the drought, the gale, the rich sand material, the scarce vegetation; the human factors including: the population pressure and the unreasonable industry and agriculture activities (the overflowing mine, the abusing water resources, the overflowing cultivate, the overflowing herd, the denudation, the over-picking). The sandification of Shanxi province is connected to the nature, the economy and the society. The artificial factors cause mainly the sandification in the specific environment.5. The sandification is divided into five areas in Shanxi Province: the slow-down development area of sandification in Yantong, the intense development area of sandification in the west of Shanxi province, the stable development area of sandification in the Southwest of Shanxi province, the sustain development area of sandification in Xinding, the latent development area of sandification in the Southeast of Shanxi province. In addition, it analyses the scope, the nature and the social and the sandification characteristic of five areas, and proposes the government direction of various areas.6. Based on present situation, the causes and the district, some governing patterns and controlling measures of sandification are pointed out, including the propaganda dynamics, the controlling population, the adjusting land structure, the protective forest and grass resources, the displaying government function, the technological system, the monitoring system, the policy system, the leader responsibility system and so on.
