In this paper, the development process and actuality of scraper conveyor at home and aboard are reviewed. The weight of the trough of middle part takes up 80% weight of the whole conveyor, so it is very important to optimize the trough of middle part. Parameter optimization and topology optimization of the trough of middle part is brought forward in this paper. The topology optimization is the most challenging research topic in the field of optimization.First, the entity model of the trough of middle part is built in Pro/E based on a coal mine machine production corporation, then the model is translated into MSC.Patran and divided finite element gridding, applied boundary load and define material property, which is submitted to MSC.Nastran to calculate, and we gained the stress nephogram. The most hazardous condition is chosen according to stress results and then topology analysis is applied. Put the model into MSC.Patran and proceed with topology analysis in which the element density distribution nephogram will show the greater optimization space. We confirm the optimization area with synthetically reviewing the stress analysis results, feasibility of workmanship and the cost of technology alteration. The sizing optimization of parameter is carried out with ANSYS, and the models are rebuilt with the defined design variables, and then state variables and objective function are defined. Then the sizing optimization of parameter is carried out. At last, its intensity is checked. The stress distributing of the optimized model is more reasonable. It saves material and brings large benefit for the corporation.
