The enlarging market of the PCB (Print Circuit Board) industry demands the higher rate and quality of PCB machining equipments. For meeting the objective market demands of the PCB numerical control Drilling and milling machine, the topic group independently developed EASY QUICK DM 40 PCB engraving machine.The main research content of the paper is the mechanical system design of the PCB engraving machine and the optimization of the mechanical capability .As a mechanical and electrical product with complicated structure and high automation, its design has the rigorous requirements on kinematic capability, dynamic capability, mechanical structural capability and machining capability. To assure the design quality of PCB engraving machine, cut the design period and reduce the design cost effectively, a combination of virtual prototype and its simulation technology and traditional experience theory are introduced into the whole design procedure of this product. Pro/Engineer, ADAMS and ANSYS are used to design and analyze the PCB engraving machine. Thereinto, the real motion state of the simulation organization is simulated,and the dynamic characteristics of the machine's bed is analyzed. At the same time, the rationality of design is verified. At last, the Cutting parameter and structure weight be optimized. Here is the following work mainly:Firstly, the market demands and development tendency of PCB numerical control drilling and milling technology is analyzed, and the whole structure plan of PCB engraving machine is drown up in this paper.Secondly, 3D model of every spare part of the PCB engraving machine was set up using Pro/E project software. Meantime, the relative relation between the movement parts is analyzed. Then, the entire machine assembly body model is Established ,the interference examination and the assembly sequence rationally was made. And assembly animation is produced.Thirdly, the paper analyzes the reason for the PCB surface quality flaw. Taking the high speed milling process of the 0.2 millimeter general milling cutter as researched object, the milling forces are established and the relationships between the cutting forces and the cutting depths are researched. By the milling experiments, the paper validates the correctness of the cutting forces former in high speed machining process and analyzes the important influence of the cutting parameter to the PCB surface quality.Fourthly, the simplified prototypical model is constructed in ADAMS, and the kinematics simulation analysis is made, according to the simulation result, some structure improvements are made, the machine capability is optimized, and the cutting quality is improved.Fifthly, the element modal of PCB engraving machine's bed is built and its mode analysis is carried out using ANSYS software. Under various frequencys, the vibration situation of machine's bed is described. At last, the structure and the cutting parameter optimization is made.Achievement of the research and the development works carried on this paper all embodies in the prototype of the PCB engraving machine. The test results show that the performance parameters have reached the international advanced level compares to similar products.
