With the rapid development of the auto and motorcycle industry, Some new demand, as the significant part in a motor or autocycle , gears are suggested by the market with Some higher demand including the quality and processing efficiency as well as delivery time . In the processing gear, The traditional standard gears have not met the market demand, and many nonstandard hobs are needed ,they are mainly exported with high price and long delivery as well as no-convenient after-service. So In this article, some research and practice through the enterprise situation are done at the centre of improving design efficiency of the hob and its quality.Firstly, with the comprehensive study of hob design at home and abroad, The tooth profile equation of gear-hob theory is drawn to do some work involving hob basal shape worm and shape error analysis according to plane engagement principle .Secondly, Under the premise of assuring the requirement of gear-tooth shape precision and balancing hob manufacturing, the scheme about hob optimization design is suggested, A mathematical model about hobbing-gear-roof repairing and hobbing-gear-dedendum cutting is established , the optimization design is drawn including hob chamfered edge jugged angle,repairing initiation point height,hobing gear dedendum cutting and alterable pressure angle hobFinally, A complete algorithm about hob design is drawn which was based on Visual Basic 6.0 and AutoCAD2002 , and hob optimization design and its CAD software are developed, which has the cutting simulation about generating from hob profile to work profile. At present, when these are applied to the enterprise, the effects is so obvious that varied hob design is finished, the quality of hob design is improved , and its design time is reduced.
