Bamboo-carbon fiber has been concerned in many reports since coming out. Now, study on properties of bamboo-carbon fiber, yarn and fabric is at the beginning. With the development and application of the bamboo-carbon fiber, more and more problems are found out. Firstly, the relation between the internal structure and the physical and chemical properties is unknown; the relation between the mechanical properties of bamboo-carbon fiber and the serviceabilities of the fabric is not assured. Secondly, the static electricity is serious in spinning, so how to choose the reasonable spinning technics and produce the yarn of high quality is becoming more and more important. Also, as the breaking tenacity of the bamboo-carbon fiber is a little weak, the breaking tenacity of the blended yarn can be improved if the bamboo-carbon fiber is blended with other fibers. Thirdly, the study on the preparation, preprocess and finishing techniques of the knitted fabric are just at the beginning. On the basis of different masterbatch carriers, there are bamboo-carbon modified polyester fiber, bamboo-carbon polyamide fiber, bamboo-carbon viscose fiber, bamboo-carbon polypropylene fiber and so on. The bamboo-carbon modified polyester fiber is the main researching object in this paper, and the main researching works have been done are as follows:(1) The physical and chemical properties of bamboo-carbon modified polyester fiber: Such properties of bamboo-carbon modified polyester fiber and PET as the single-extension, elasticity recovery of constant elongation and the fiber stress relaxation, were tested, compared and analized.(2) On the basis of the physical and mechanical properties being studied, the spinning properties of bamboo-carbon modified polyester fiber are practiced and studied. The problems in its spinning and the key to solve these problems are discussed.(3) The tensile properties and the yarn stress relaxation of bamboo-carbon modified polyester fiber and cotton fiber blended yarn of the five different blending ratios were tested and analyzed.(4) The preparation, preprocess, heat-set techniques and the wearing characteristics of the knitted fabric were studied.At the present time, the research and applications of bamboo charcoal modified polyester fiber is still at the primary stage of development and market exploration, and the further development and application will be made through the study of this paper.
