Profile is the most important index of strip quality, moreover, the profile theory is the theoretical foundation of profile control. The in-depth and meticulous research of profile theory will contribute to more accurate forecasts, set and control of the profile to improve the quality and level of the profile control.This paper firstly introduced some basic conceptions of profile. Then through Roll-loaded gap equation, it analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of profile adjustment technology and its related apparatus which have been regularly used at present. The strip crown theoretical model was derived on the basis of the research and analysis on differ elastic deformation theories of rolls (for example, the method of freely supported beam,the method of composite beam,the method of spring beam,the method of influence function, etc), and the used of the theoretical knowledge of Mechanics of Materials and Theoretical Mechanics. In order to verify the model, the paper calculation and analysis the contact finite element model of the strip crown in the large-scale and non-linear software named MSC. MENTAT / MARC. The residual stress of the strip was derived on the basis of the research and analysis on the causes and processes of the residual stress of the cold-rolled strip, and in accordance with the assumptions of derivation, given the application scope and the amended method of the residual stress formula. Under the introduce of the basic bending theoretical of the cold-rolled strip, the conclusion that the used of finite element method to solving buckling critical load was more accurate and effective was derived on the basis of the comparison and analysis of the common methods for solving the instability critical load (for example, differential equation, energy law and FEM). The paper solved the critical load of the cold-rolled strip which was instable in the form of central-wave or edge-wave by use of the buckling finite element method, found out its law, and studied some factors impacted on critical load. After the introduce of the definition of flatness, the conditions caused good flatness and the theoretical model for solving angularity was derived on the basis of the research and analysis on the internal relations between the strip crown and the flatness.In order to verify the model, the paper simulated the deformation process of the post-buckling of the strip by used of the non-linear finite element method, and solved the wave-height and wave-length of the instability of the strip. And then the paper researched on the crown ratio changes of the input and output strip on the impact of the angularity.Under the condition of lacking related materials at home and abroad, and on the basis of material mechanics, theoretical mechanics, elastoplastic mechanics, higher mathematics and so on, the paper combined the large-scale and non-linear software named MSC. MENTAT / MARC and the mathematical tools named MATLAB, finally accomplished the theory analysis and the finite element analysis about strip crown, residual stress, critical load and flatness by independently. This study provided practical ways for the profile analysis, thus it gained its own contribution.
