A large amount of energy is consumed in ferrosilicon industry.Ferroalloy producers and researchers are paying more and more attention how to make better use of energy in ferrosilicon production.In this paper,taking ferrosilicon smelting in Tengda Northwest Ferroalloy Co., Ltd.as an example,based on the material balance and heat balance,the two aspects of energy saving and recovery of waste heat are comprehendingly analyzed.On the basis of the research,some improvements of saving energy and some methods of utilization of waste heat have been put forward.They are as follows:Through these improvements of the equipments,energy saving and consumption reducing is analyzed:1.About the equipments and the short network,the suggestions are as follows: 1).The power line should be transformed from the original a 10kv into 35kv;2). Aluminium Conductors(Cable) Steel-Reinforced(ACSR) should be increased from 300mm~2 to 400mm~2.The transformer model should be updated to HTFSPZ-12500/35;3).The transformer should be reinstalled and closer to the location of the electric furnace.The connection model of the short network should be changed into a reverse triangle "▽";Using 12∮50×10 copper tube to replace 16∮60×10 in each phase.The short network is then shorten from 416m to 240m.The thermal calculation on recovery of waste heat is analyzed as follows:2.To use the sensible heat of the furnace gas,a waste heat boiler is designed to set up at fire hole place.Through the internal thermal calculation,the utilization of the sensible heat might be 60.82%,and effective use of heat might be 2782290.6kJ/h.It is possible and valuble to use these heat.3.To use the latent heat in the process of ferrosilicon casting,a device of blasting wind shield has be designed.Based on its internal calculation of the heat balance,the rationality and usability of this device are carried out.4.The concept of Pinch Technology is introduced to recovery of the waste heat, through taking the each working procedure of ferrosilicon production as a whole system.By using the heat exchange unit model,the outlet temperature(Tout) of the air can be obtained in the composite temperature-enthalpy curve.A diagram of heat exchange system is laid out,therefore,the method of making full use of waste heat can be advised.
