Heat pipe heat exchanger is a highly efficient heat transfer components. Because of its high efficiency, strong control, simple structure, small power consumption, etc, and heat pipe heat exchanger more and more attention, has a very good application prospect. In this paper, the development of heat pipe heat exchanger, the working principle, application and classification had a brief discussion. And in this paper briefly introduces the development necessity of aluminum substituting copper tube for heat pipe and focused on the design of heat pipe heat exchanger. In this paper, the theory of engineering thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics and other disciplines are used in this paper. The method of making full use of waste heat is introduced, and heat pipe is determined to be the heat transfer device by comparing the advantages and disadvantages of heat exchanger, heat pump and heat pipe. The design and calculation method of heat pipe heat exchanger is introduced in detail. With heat pipe heat exchanger for fresh air preheating, not only can reduce the coal combustion, replace the boiler room, reduce the pressure of the environment, but also can improve the economic benefits of enterprises. Based on the engineering practice of Fengfeng Group Yangdong East Mine, the design and economic analysis of heat pipe heat exchanger system is carried out in this paper, to verify the results of theoretical research. The results show that when the daily average outdoor temperature is higher than the critical temperature, heat pipe heat recovery device of mine return air heat transfer can be preheated outdoor fresh air flow.
