Through the research of siltstone thin oil reservoir which sanding seriously,we find the reservoirs' sanding provide features of diversification and complexity. On the part of sand sample, it has coarse sand, fine sand, dust sand, drill fluid, and so on. For sanding history, each block's present is different. Some blocks'sanding hazard is just a temporary problem which existed in early stage or middle and later stage of development period. However, some blocks may be puzzled how to solve sanding problem in development. Especially for dust sand and drill fluid entry in thin oil production well, conventional sand control measure or unitary sand control measure is unable to execution. That leads to partial blocks'development effect bad, even unable to produce. The main problem existed are drift sand entry, drill fluid entry; fine sand entry; sanding in lateral well; sanding in long hole section; formation sand flow, deplete of well, and so on. These problems cause low degree of reserve recovery in middle and later stage of development period and low oil production rate of remained recoverable reserve, such as Shu Three Block. Because rated recovery is difficult to reach, development effect of the reservoir becomes bad year by year. The paper takes Shu Three Block, siltstone thin oil reservoir which sanding seriously, as an example. Through analyzing geologic characteristic, existed problems in development, sanding situation of the reservoir, etc., the paper probes into sanding mechanism and existed problems in sand control, and proceeds to sanding prediction. It proposes technological breakthrough thinking as geology combined with project, combined sand control, and systematical administer. Firstly achieve system (drilling, completion, perforation, forced sand dump, and carrier production) engineering optimization in this block. We mainly take forced sand dump technology, deep bed formation sand control technology, and carrier production technology to achieve better sand control and production effect. From January 1st to December 31st, 2008, we totally implement 20 wells, cumulative oil 15211.2t. We get good sand controlling result, and provide important criterion for future sand control application in Shu Three Block. For domestic homogeneous siltstone thin oil reservoir, it has popularity and application value, and it also has comprehensive application foreground.
