Thermal transfer printing is the extension from printing technology to the textiles in some sense. It is now applied to the textile industry widely. The paper was based on introducing the main process of the thermal transfer printing, and studied a common problem in the thermal transfer printing industry, which was the residual ink. The factors of people have enormous implications to the traditional color matching artificially, which is performed by the subjective experiences. One of the significant causes for the precision to the color matching is the accuracy of the color model, so it is the key to improving the color model. Kubelka-Munk model is applied to the thermal transfer printing, which is concise and easy to understand for some assumptions in the process of derivation. These assumptions neglect the fluorescence phenomenon, the non-linearities due to colorant interactions. The paper was based on the spectrophotometer measurement and the traditional correction. The study inspected and verified the Sanderson correction is extended to the Kubelka-Munk theory. The result showed that the Sanderson correction improved the non-linearities and relation between K/S value and concentration. The function that was performed polynomial-fitting was close to the practical situation. The basic theory of cellule model is interpolation. The curve that was performed interpolation was able to characteristic the ink exactly.
