This paper designed and researched the high pressure particle mud valve and the method and devices for separating metal particles from drilling mud used in a new oil field drilling technology, particle impact drilling (PID) technology. By understanding the international research process of related technologies, and based on the special requirements of the particle impact drilling technology, the paper designed the particle process system (PPS) of the particle impact drilling system, and designed the high pressure particle mud valve which can be used on pipes for high pressure mud with particles. These devices can satisfy the requirements of working capacity and situation.The contact mechanical sealing between the valve plate and the valve seat in high pressure particle mud valve can seal the high pressure fluid in the pipe effectively. There are two driving structure on the valve, one is manual, the other is hydraulic. The design of valve hole in the valve plate and the chamfers at the junction of the holes in valve plate and valve seat can prevent the valve plate and the valve seat from damages.Using ANSYS Transient dynamics method, the paper simulated and analyzed the contacts between the particle and chamfers of valve plate and valve seat while the high pressure particle mud valve is about to shut down. The innovations of the chamfers on valve plate and valve seat, and the hole in the valve plate can not only prevent the particles from griped and broken, but also extend the valve's service life.Besides designed the process of the particle process system (PPS), this paper also analyzed and introduced the design and selection method of the particle process system devices for separation, transport, pretreatment and storage.This is the first time the PID technology was researched in China. The separation method and the devices designed in this paper can meet the needs of the PID system, and are well adjustable, can be referenced by the follow-up study.
