Study On Montesquieu's Thought Of Ecology Politics

Montesquieu is Well-known to the world for his theory of environment and politics theory. Nowadays, with the increasing development of ecology, Montesquieu's theory is worth to be explored and reevaluated. This thesis focuses on interpreting the original works of Montesquieu, and critically studying his theory of Ecology Politics based on sufficient literatures.Firstly, brief historic investigation and necessary definition of Ecology Politics has been made. Then the thesis discussed Montesquieu's geographical environment and social environment theory in detail from the relation between geographical elements such as climate, geographic location, soil properties, social factors including custom, religion, culture to legal and political system. Lastly, the author evaluated Montesquieu's Ecology Politics theory, that is, Montesquieu's Ecology Politics theory is unconscious, and micro according to the general understanding of modern ecological politics. However the rich and profound ecological politics thought is worth affirmation. Montesquieu's geographical environment theory, which aims at pursuing harmony and freedom, especially emphasizes on the close relationship between people, society and nature as well as their interactions. As an enlightenment thinker of the 18th century, Montesquieu's theory of ecological politics has the nature of idealist history outlook but it has great influence on ecological politics history and should be taken seriously.
