Nowadays, because of strong machining capability, high precision, and high efficiency, undoubtedly, CNC Turn-milling machine tools will be more widely used in machining industry. However, many enterprises only use them as CNC lathes or CNC milling machines, the performance of turn-mill machining does not bring high profits in the production process. CNC Turn-milling machine tools'utilization is few and their potentialities are not exploited effectively. The reason is that it is very difficult to use Turn-mill machining accurately. For instance, the intricate processing, complicated NC programs, the phenomenon of collision and interference is prone to happen, cause that CNC Turn-milling machine tools'damages, workpieces'scrap, even threaten the operators'lives. Actually, no operators wants to have accidents, allow for the high costs to purchase the CNC Turn-milling machine tools, therefore, in the actual processing; they often tend to choose conservative processing methods; even it will greatly reduce processing efficiency.The key of improve the utilization efficiency of CNC Turn-milling machine tools, is to provide accurate and high quality NC programs, especially for Turn-mill machining, and needs multi-tools cutting synchronously. So NC programs simulation becomes the best way to test whether the NC programs are correct before practical production. Through the simulation machining, modify the wrong segments, and then provide the correct procedures for the actual production processes. But, for exerting full potential of CNC Turn-milling machine tools; provide the correct NC programs are not enough, we must ensure that it is optimized on the basis of the NC programs is right.As we all know, choose the best cutting parameters is the key point of optimization of NC programs. But at present, the ways of choosing cutting parameters are mostly according to the related cutting manuals, personal experiences, and cutting experimental reports, however, choosing the best cutting parameters to be the optimal solution of optimization model is seldom used.Obviously, it is meaningful that developing simulation and optimization system of turn-mill machining, and nowadays, we face the fact that lack of simulation and optimization system for turn-mill machining, and also it is difficult to develop simulation and optimization system. From this point of view, this research addressed the main technologies for developing simulation and optimization system of turn-mill machining, including virtual machine models, collision and interference detection of the machining process, and optimization of processing parameters.Through collision and interference detection in the virtual machine tool model, we can get the correct NC programs. In order to achieve the NC programs optimized and also ensure the accuracy of NC programs, the entire cutting process is seen as an optimization model in this research, the objective optimization function, including processing time and processing costs, are established. In the whole machining process, make the objective optimization function reaches its minimum to solve a series of best cutting speed and feed value.
