Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons are a group of organic compounds with carcinogenicity mutagenicity and teratogenicity, which have become more and more harmful to human health because of their cumulation in the environment,The PAHs pollution in atmospheric suspended particulates emphasized threat on the whole human. And the understanding of occurrence and sources for PAHs in environment is the basis of controlling POPS pollution efficiently,thus reducing personal intake and protecting human health.As a result of Chengdu special basin climate, wind shadow requency to reach as high as 43%, Wind speed lower , inversion layer low, the atmospheric pellet is not easy to proliferate, is easy to initiate the atmospheric pellet pollution.Currently, atmospheric particulate pollution of Chengdu is serious,however, the research about atmospheric particulate organic pollutants is few,So studying the pollution conditions and source of atmospheric PAHs in TSP are very important to prevention and cure for the pollution of PAHs.We used traditional active sampling technique to sample atmospheric PAHs weekly in the Eastern Suburb of Chengdu from July 2008 to Augest 2009.Samling point was chosen in Chengdu University of Technology.Based on the determined data at the sampling area, the objective of this word was to determine the concentration, seasonal variation characteristic, influence factors and source of Atmospheric PAHs in TSP in the Eastern suburb of Chengdu and draw the following results. 49 samples were collected at Chengdu.The collected samples were underwent the following treatment,such as Soxhlet extracted,concentrated and purified, and last PAHs was analyed by GC-MS.All the experiments were finished in the lab of the International Joint Research Center for Persistent Toxic Substance( IJRC-PTS)in Harbin Institute of Technology.In the Eastern suburb of Chengdu the average concentration of atmospheric∑PAHs in TSP was 81.11 ng/m~3,the predominated atmospheric PAHs in TSP was high rings PAHs that 60% of∑PAHs.Clear seasonal trends were observed, with higher concentration in winter and lower in summer.The concentration of Bap related to the other homologous compounds well,but to∑PAHs much better which reaches 0.96.Ambient temperature was predominating factor influencing the variation of Particulate phase PAHs concentration, temperature together with wind speed and relative humidity were all main meteorological parameters affecting the fluctuations of particle phase PAHs. The main sources of atmospheric PAHs in TSP were estimated by ratios method,the result is that the main pollution sources were vehicle emission, coal combusion , waste incineration also makes contribution to. According to the above analysis, this paper puts forward some of atmospheric particulate pahs Control Suggestions.
