The preparation process, electrochemical property, composition and structure, mechanical and magnetic property of the electroless Fe-P alloy with rare earth joined were studied. The optimum formulation of electroless Fe-P alloy was confirmed using perpenpular method, the effects of Ce and La on the process of electroless Fe-P alloy were tested. The electrochemical property of electroless bath was tested, moreover, the effects of components of bath and rare earth elements on cathode reduce were analyzed. The effects of Ce and La on composition, structure and morphology of electroless Fe-P alloy were tested, besides, the microhardness, corrosion resistance and magnetic property of Fe-P coating with Ce and La joined were mensurated. In order to get the semihard magnetic Fe-P coating with excellent properties, the mechanism of action and the mode of influence of rare earth on process, composition and structure, morphology, mechanical and magnetic property of electroless Fe-P alloy were analyzed by the experimental data. The results show that the deposition rate increases, the stability of bath meliorates, the deposition potential moves towards positive direction and polarizability with addition of rare earth. With the augment of rare earth added in the bath, the content of phosphor increased first and decreased afterwards in Fe-P coating and the structure of alloys are amorphous. The surface of alloy is formed by irregular cord-like cell and adding rare earth can make the cell refine. The microhardness and corrosion resistance of Fe-P coating increased when the rare earth was added.According to the magnetic parameters, electroless Fe-P alloy was known as a kind of semihard magnetic film, and the semihard magnetic property was optimized with addition of rare earth.
