On the basis ofthe advanced desulfuration technology at home and abroad, desulfuration with singly-blowing magnesium grain is applied in the process of iron desulfuration in Ningbo Steel Co.Ltd. Due to the complicated influencing factors,back-propagation neural network is employed in the construction of the mathematical model of desulfuration process. Siemens Industrial&Automation software Step7 and WinCC6.0 are utilized to develop the control system of the iron desulfuration process.Currently, knotted reactor, singly-blowing magnesium grain technology and compound spray technology are three most commonly used technologies in the iron desulfuration production globally.The principles of these technologies are fully described,and so do their advantages,disadvantages and their solutions. Singly-blowing magnesium grain technology is chosen as the most appropriate after many factors, including resources, energy,environment and compatibility with other steel preprocessing technics and so on, considered at the same time.Also, the theory and its applications of artificial neural network(ANN) are illustrated, and back-propagation neural network is introduced to handle the mathematical model of singly-blowing magnesium grain technology.Inspired by Fourier transform,the author proposes a non-linear activation function to improve the algorithm of BP ANN,which is programmed and realized with java finally. With these completed, Siemens Industrial&Automation software Step7 and WinCC6.0 are used to develop the whole control system with the improved BP ANN integrated,which can fulfill the alternation of manual and automatic control of filling the tanks,magnesium injection and so on,and complete the whole process effectively and accurately.Singly-blowing magnesium grain technology can economize in raw materials and reduce energy consumption and pollution,whose wide application will increase economic efficiency,enhance social benefits and improve environmental benefits of the whole Iron and steel industry and the whole community.
