In recent years, along with the rapid development of national economy and living level, people want living environment cleaner and more comfortable. In daily life, people will be confronted with a lot of unpleasant smells, such as sweat stink, body odor, cigarette flavour and so on. The main chemical compositions of these odors are:ammonia(urine and sweat, etc.), hydrogen sulfide (corrupt eggs, etc.), secaline (corrupt fish) and methyl mercaptan (corrupt scallions) etc. Normally, these chemicals are smelly and amyctic, they will not only make people feel uncomfortable, but also may be harmful to people's physical health. Textile plays an important role in daily life, since it contacts with human body closely. And people hope there will be less odor on clothes and beddings. If we can develop a deodorant and finishing technology on textile, it will not only improve the air quality and the living environment around us, but also can promote the quality level and added value of the product.Beta cyclodextrin(P-CD) is a kind of annular oligosaccharides, its molecular has unique hydrophobic cavity structure. Due to its molecular structure, it can clathrate ammonia, hydrogen sulfide and many other guest molecules. Due to this special ability ofβ-CD, it was selected to prepare deodorant. Then the deodorizing finishing technology on wool fabric with the selfmade P-CD deodorant was studied. Two deodorizing finishing technologies were studied to improve the durability:β-CD deodorant/water-borne polyurethane(adhesive) andβ-CD deodorant/multiple carboxylic acid(graft copolymerization).The water solubility ofβ-CD is very low, so the preparation of aβ-CD deodorant with high solid content and good dispersing capability is the key to this study. Firstly, the quality percentage ofβ-CD was confirmed by comparative experiments based on its solubility in solvents. Appropriate experimental equipment and disperse method were selected. Influence factors to the properties ofβ-CD deodorant were studied, such as different solubilizing assistant, surfactant and dispersing time. The deodorant prepared by above methods and recipe had good dispersion and storage stability. The preparation recipe and process ofβ-CD deodorant, which has high solid content, good storage stability and stable performance after diluted, were confirmed.Then, the deodorizing finishing of wool fabric with the selfmadeβ-CD deodorant by adhesive(water-borne polyurethane) and graft copolymerization(multiple carboxylic acid). The application performance of theβ-CD deodorant in deodorizing finishing of wool fabric was evaluated by testing the ammonia absorption value of the finished wool fabric samples before and after washing. Experimental results showed that the ammonia absorption value of the wool fabric samples finished by the two methods were obviously improved, the deodorization effect was obvious. The ammonia absorption value of the wool fabric samples finished by multiple carboxylic acid graft copolymerization were higher than that of the samples finished by adhesive with water-borne polyurethane, which indicated that the former finishing method is better. What's more, the ammonia absorption value of the wool fabric samples finished by BTCA were higher than that of the samples finished by CA, the possible reason is the different reaction ability with P-CD and wool fiber between the two crosslinking agents, the reaction ability of BTCA is higher than that of CA. Experimental results also showed that after several washes, the ammonia absorption value of the finished samples by two methods were still 2-3 times as that of the unfinished sample, which showed good water-fastness.Theβ-CD deodorant and deodorizing finishing technology based onβ-CD studied in this paper have theoretical guidance value and practical significance to the development of environment-friendly function textiles.Huang Jinxu(Textile Chemistry and Dyeing & Finishing Engineering)Supervised by prof.
