In recent years the study of wet strength agent gradually shift to the direction of environmental protection. Combination of this trends, this paper has prepared a series of wet strength agent which have core-shell structure by the way of molecules and particle design. In the consider of price, security and environmentally, we choose the Styrene,Ethyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate,HEMA,HPMA as the experimental materials. By researching the single impact on emulsion of initiator, emulsifier, temperature, monomer add speed, this research has prepared Styrene-Ethyl acrylate-methyl methacrylate-HEMA emulsion (SEMHE) and Styrene-Ethyl acrylate-methyl methacrylate-HPMA emulsion (SEMHP).The IR and TEM show that the target product has been synthesize successful and it has core-shell structure. This research is the first add the SEMHE emulsion and SEMHP emulsion into paper pulp, find the most effective emulsion addition, compare in different curing temperature and time, the emulsion react on paper. The SEM show that the emulsion has formed a continuous film which can prevent the water swelling cellulose. The result show that when nuclear layer is styrene:methyl methacrylate:ethyl acrylate(5:4:1),the shell volume ratio is 5:4:10:1 (benzene Ethylene:methyl methacrylate:ethyl acrylate:functional monomer).Add this emulsion 20% (relative to dry fiber) into paper in neutral conditions and cured at 105℃20min, the physical properties of paper can be significantly improved, with wet strength can improve 20%, the folding endurance increased 7 times, and dry tensile strength increased by 70%, bursting strength also increased by 7% or even more.
