Stainless steel has been used in chemical, petroleum, aerospace, energy, textile, light industry and other fields for its unique corrosion resistance, good processing performance and attractive surface appearance. The cold-rolling of stainless steel strip is an important process. After a certain degree of cold rolling, the thin, accurate and surface finished chilled strip can be obtained with stress rupture property. If it is processed after the heat treatment and finishing, the strip could have good mechanical properties, processing properties and excellent physical properties.Finite element method as a numerical simulation method has been developed with the development of the computer and numerical methods. Software MARC could be applied to solve multiple nonlinear and large-scale contact problems. It is a potent tool to analyze the process of metal plastic forming. The model of stainless steel plate and strip rolling process is much more complex not only for its material nonlinearity, but also the more cell division. The rolling process aroused complicated metal deformation as well as stress-strain variation. Simulation for of stainless steel plate and strip rolling process has dramatically reduced the difficulty and compensated the lack of experimental method.Genetic algorithm is random and related to biological of selection and natural genetic mechanism. It should be an efficient, parallel, global search and optimized. It can automatically get and accumulate in the search process and the accumulation of knowledge about the search space and adaptively control the search process to obtain the optimal solution. This paper discusses the cold-rolled processing technology of stainless steel. The author optimized the stainless steel plate and strip rolling schedule with the penalty function method by using matlab genetic algorithm toolbox. And the application of finite element software MARC reveals the simulation of its cold-rolling process. Several steps must be followed.Firstly, the cold rolling schedule optimization model based on rolling force calculation is used to optimize the cold rolling production process and give a simulation for it. It is using multi-objective function with minimum consumption of rolling energy and avoiding slide. The calculation has considered some constraint conditions, such as biting, maximum rolling force, maximum rolling torque, slippage prevention etc.At the same time, by adopting appropriate rolling and interface assumptions, the author built a three-dimensional model including work roll, rolling etc. and took appropriate loading and constraint conditions to stainless steel plate and strip. After being compared with the different friction coefficient, forward-backward tension and the reduction ratio, the simulation has made an analysis of stress-strain distribution and cold rolling force within rolling deformation zone, and an analysis of the residual stress of the rolled-piece.
