This paper established the mathematical model for energy consumption and amount of CO2 emission of buildings based on the life cycle assessment, to analyze energy consumption and emission of greenhouse gas during total life cycle stage of different buildings. Calculated and analyzed energy consumption and amount of CO2 emission of three building that including traditional Yao-Dong, new Yao-Dong with solar energy and concrete building in Yanan city of Shanxi province of Northwest China. There are five stages in the whole life cycle of buildings including manufacturing, erection, occupation, demolition and disposal. In this study, 30-year service time was assumed for both buildings. The result show that the highest energy consumption stage all occurs in the occupation stage for three buildings, the occupation phase constitutes 82% of the total for traditional Yao-Dong, 32% of the total for new Yao-Dong with solar energy and 82% of the total for concrete building. The manufacture phase has the second highest energy use on the total energy consumption during the life cycle, this phase constitutes 6.7% of the total for traditional Yao-Dong, 25% of the total for new Yao-Dong with solar energy and 14% of the total for concrete building. However, the disposal phase has the lowest energy consumption during the life cycle, this phase constitutes of the total is no more than 1% for three buildings.About the emissions of CO2, when we assumed the service time of the building was 30-year old, the highest phases of the emission are the manufacture phase and the occupation phase. Especially in the occupation phase, amount of CO2 emission of new Yao-Dong with solar energy is less than else buildings because of its good energy -efficient, and its environment impact is the least. This paper calculated the energy consumption of life cycle for three buildings, which service time from 10-year to 70-year old. When increased the service time of buildings, the sq.m. energy consumption of every year become lower, but the degree of changing is degression . When the service time of buildings is more than 50 years, the changing of the sq.m. energy consumption of every year become slowing, because the service time of buildings is longer, the proportion of total energy use of each phase is lessening.
