Observation On The Therapeutic Effect Of Xuanfei Pingchuan Decoction In Treating Allergic Rhinitis - Asthma Syndrome

Backgrounds:Research shows asthma patients suffering from allergic rhinitis can be as high as 80%.and in recent years more and more clinical reports indicate that AR and BA sharing a homogeneity. Allergic rhinitis and bronchial asthma are not respectively Independent existence diseases, but the two closely related diseases, often co-exist with each other in one patient. The WAO (World Allergy Organization) proposed a new concept CARAS (Combined Allergic Rhinitis and Asthma Syndrome).According to the tutor’s experiences in the treatment of CARAS, we found that the fengxielianfei is the key pathogenesis of CARAS. On the basis of fengxielianfei.the tutor get XuanfeiPingchuansoup to treat CARAS.In the clinicalpractice we found XuanfeiPingchuansoup canimprove the symptoms of patients, prevent the attack of CARAS. We treat the CARAS patients with xuanfeipingchuansoup, observing the changes of symptom score and the improving of lung function and ACT score before and after treatment, preliminary evaluation the efficacy and safety of Xuanfei pingchuansoup.Methods:By summarize and analyze the TCM and western medicinesystematically on treating CARAS,we discuss the pathogenesis of CARAS and the mechanism of Xuanfeipingchuangsoup. We conduct a randomized control clinical study. A total of 63 patients who meet the inclusion criteria of CARAS withFengxieliangfei were devided into the test group and the control group according to the random number tablethe ratio of 2:1 distribution.the test group had 42 patients,and lost 4 people;control group were 21persons.2 were lost. A total of 57 patients’data entered the data statistics. The test groupTaking the Xuanfei Pingchuansoup, the control group inhaled salmeterol/fluticasone combined with montelukast in two weeks’treatment.We observed the changes in TCM syndrome score, rhinitis score,pulmonary function tests and other safety indicators before and after treatment respectively of patients in two groups.and measured ACT (Asthma ControlTest) before treatment and 4weeks later. Application of Epidata3.1 software to establish a database.Then we input data into SPSS17.0 statistical software for the future statistical analysis of data.Results:1The subjects of sex. age, course of asthma disease and rhinitis disease, other history of allergic disease and allergic source pulmonary function and ACT score before treatment were compared, results showed that there was no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). The baseline are balanced of two groups.They are comparable.2 Comparison of curative effect:Two groups in comparison of TCM symptoms total score are both effective. The effective rate of the test group was 74%, and the control group was 79%, Group comparison indicates there is no significant difference between two groups (P>0.05). The test group in reducing single symptom before and after treatment is effective(P< 0.05). The control group in improving the smell of odor and nasal obstruction shows on significant difference comparing with before (P>0.05).The other symptoms is effective.The effective rate of the test group in reducing the rhinitis symptom score was 76%, and the control group was 59%, they had no statistical significance (P>0.05). The basic control rate of test group in improving ACT score is 86.8%,control rate is 63%. There was significant difference between two groups (P=0.02), and the test group was better than control group.Especially in reducing the frequency of using the emergency medication,there is a very significant difference(P=0.007).After treatment the FEV1 (%) and PEF (L) of the test group are significantly improved (P< 0.05), on the other hand PEF (%) of the test group compared with before treatment was no significant improved (P> 0.05). The comparison of FEV1 (%), PEF (L), PEF (%) in control group can significance improved (P< 0.05). Stastics shows that two groups have no significant difference. During the treatment there is no adverse event in two groups.Conclusion:1.Two groups are both effective in the treatment of CARAS.2.Xuanfei Pingchuan soup in the treatment of CARAS in the improvement of ACT score is better than the treatment of the control group.3. The curative effect of Xuanfei Pingchuansoup and the treatment of the control group are equal in improving TCM symptoms, nasal symptoms score, lung function.
