Two parts are included in the dissertation, literature review and clinical research. The first part is literature review, mainly introduces the backgrounds of this research, which is the progress of research on the relationship between malignant tumor and diabetes, including the following sections:1. Research status of western medicine for malignant tumor complicated with diabetes, and the basic concept and epidemiology about malignant tumor and diabetes, pathogenesis of diabetic secondary malignancies, possible influence for diabetic drugs on secondary malignancies, possible mechanism of malignant tumor secondary to diabetes, effects of chemotherapy treatments on blood glucose are included.2. The etiology and pathogenesis of malignant tumor as well as diabetes in Chinese medicine, and the understanding of malignant tumor complicated with diabetes in Chinese medicine. The second part is clinical research, entitled effects of chemotherapy on blood glucose and TCM syndrome in patients with breast cancer. Objective:To investigate the following aspects:(1) the effect of chemotherapy on fasting glucose; (2) the effect of chemotherapy on TCM syndrome; (3) related factors which may influence fasting glucose after chemotherapy. Methods:A retrospective study of statistical analysis were used, collecting 31 medical records of patients with breast cancer in China-Japan Friendship Hospital Integrative oncology from 1 January 2014 to 31 December 2014, including changes of TCM syndromes, blood glucose, age and liver function before and after chemotherapy, and effect of chemotherapy on blood glucose and TCM syndrome, as well as the relevance of chemotherapy formula, basic blood glucose, age, liver function with blood glucose before and after chemotherapy were analyzed.Results:1 After chemotherapy, blood glucose was higher than before with statistical significance (P<0.01), and 14 people showed transitory impaired fasting glucose.2 Fasting glucose, age, liver function were significantly different (P<0.05) for fasting plasma glucose after chemotherapy.3 No significant differences were shown in fasting glucose after different chemotherapy formula.4. Before chemotherapy, the main TCM syndrome was qi stagnation or blood stasis, while after chemotherapy main TCM syndrome were blood stasis and qi deficiency, and qi deficiency syndrome, blood deficiency syndrome as well as yin deficiency syndrome were increased.Conclusion:1.Blood glucose after chemotherapy was significantly higher than which before chemotherapy, thus it showed that chemotherapy may lead to impaired fasting glucose.2 Basic fasting glucose, age, liver function were related factors of fasting plasma glucose after chemotherapy.3. Chemotherapy formula was with no significant relevance with fasting glucose after chemotherapy.4. Deficiency syndromes such as qi deficiency, blood deficiency, yin deficiency syndrome were increased after chemotherapy.
