Adzuki bean (Vigna angularis) is considered to have originated in China, which had long cultivation history. It is important to learn origin, evolution, spread of adzuki bean through research genetic diversity of adzuki bean germplasm resources. In this study, germplasm resources of adzuki bean were systematically evaluated at morphological and SSR molecular levels. The studied materials were mainly collected from China, Japan, Korea and Burma. In addition, it is investigate and evaluate the chloroplast SSR primers on adzuki bean. The main results are as following:1.95 wild and weedy adzuki bean germplasm accessions were analyzed for the morphological genetic diversity. The results showed that wild adzuki bean and weedy adzuki bean were obvious different in 17morphological characters, Based on the morphological data, 95 accessions were clustered into 5 groups. The first group, from Japan and Korea, had farther disparted three hypogenus.2.The genetic diversity of 96 adzuki bean germplasm were tested by SSR markers. The result showed that there was an average of 8 bands per primer with a total 48 bands at 6 SSR primers. The cluster analysis showed that 4 groups can be clustered when genetic similarity coefficient was given as 0.402. It appeared that the cluster has obvious association with the genetic races and different geographical regions.3.In order to address the questions concerning the evolution and maternal lineage of azuki bean. 30 cpSSR primers were surveyed from tobacco cpDNA and soybean cpDNA. The result suggests that there were diversity from soybean cpDNA of cpSSR25 and cpSSR26 by using the cpSSR technique. Although they were different genus in azuki bean with soybean, the plan is advisable which develop azuki bean cpSSR from soybean chloroplast.
