Adzuki bean (Vigna angularis) originated from China, and had long cultivation history. It is very important to detect the genetic diversity of wild, weedy and cultivated adzuki beans for further study of diffusion, evolution and the origin of adzuki bean germplasm resources. And it will be more efficient for adzuki bean breeding and production to study the genetic rule of seed color of adzuki bean.SSR (Simple Sequences Repeats) variation was firstly assessed in 145 accessions of adzuki bean from China, Japan, Korea, Bhutan, Nepal and Vietnam. The result showed that there was an average of 6.29 alleles per locus with a total 44 alleles at 7 SSR loci. There were species-specific bands in wild, weedy and cultivated races; The order of genetic dispersion was wild adzuki bean>weedy adzuki bean>cultivated adzuki bean. The order of Gst and the average of genetic similarity coefficient was wild adzuki bean
