[ABSTRACT] Objective:To discuss the main MRI features and diagnosis value of the cystic echinococcosis (CE)and alveolaris echinococcosis (AE).Material and Methods:43 patients with operation and pathological proved hepatic echinococcosis were studied. Results:The 43 patients with hepatic echinococcosis had cyst echinococcosis 27 cases, alveolaris echinococcosis 8 cases .The cyst echinococcosis had 36 lesions,30 lesions in the right liver,6 lesions in the left liver. The simple cyst had 13 cases ,the parent cyst with daughter cyst had 23 cases .The rupture and infection cyst had 6 cases. The alveolar echinococcosis had 17 lesions,13 lesions in the right liver ,4 lesions in the left liver. Conclusion:The specific signs cystic echinococcosis were a smooth intensity cystic wall and multicystic when daughter cysts are existed .The MRI findings of alveolar echinococcosis were a large mass with low signal intensity both on T1 and T2 weight sequence ,particularly on T2 weight sequence.Necrosis and liquefaction at the centre of the lesion ,as demonstrated melting salt change in the cyst .Besides, countless small cyst and calcification in the lesion can be detected.MR Imaging is a valuable tool in the study of liver hydatid disease.
