PrefaceEarly spontaneous abortion means mostly embryo stops growing in the uterus and is exclued by the uterus whose chief cause include both fetal and maternal sides. During the pregnancy, the relationship between the pregnant woman and embryo is complicated and particular, the balance of the network system of autocrine or paracrine is very important for the growth of the embryo which is composed by all kinds of cytokines, hormones and proteins, and with the particular micro-en-viroment being destroyed, the bad consequences such as abortion will happen. According to statistics, approximately 1 in 5 pregnancies has abortion. Early abortion not only make the pregnant woman feel unhappy but also will interrupt the woman from having birth again in the future.Human Chorionic Gonadotropin ( HCG) is a kind of hormones secreted by the trophodermal syncytial cell of the human placenta after the nidation of fertilized egg. It is a chief factor which can maintain normal physiologic process. We can examine the content and the variation of HCG in the maternal blood or urine to diagnose and distinguish early pregnancy and abnormal pregnancy such as abortion, ec-topic pregnancy and so on. Serum HCG levels reach to the peak at 8- 10 weeks of gestation and fall rapidly and don' t increase with the development of the pregnancy. Recently , with the rapid development of every subject of study, the research and prevention to early abortion have been paid close attention to by all the world, including the cyto-kines associated with early abortion.Follistatin ( FS) , also called follicular stimulus inhibitory protein. Robertson and Ueno first exacted a kind of single glucoprotein from the cow and the pig follicular fluid in 1987, which has inhibin-like biologic activity, whose inhibitory force only is 10 -30% of in-hibin (INH). FS is a new cytokine whose activity like hormone and can combine specificly activin (ACT) and inhibit its activity and then can produce many biological effects. FS can interrupt ACT from, atre-sic follicle, and make the growth of the ovarian follicle go on. The abnormal pregnancy is associated with the abnormal ovarian follicle growth.The researches confirm, the concentration of FS increases with the development of the pregnancy. But when the early abortion happens how does the FS concentration of the serum of expectant mother vary? At present, it is not reported at home. We examine the serum FS concentration of expectant mother of early spontaneous abortion and compare the levels of FS and HCG and observe that whether there is a correlation between FS and HCG.Material and methodSelecting 30 expectant mothers of early spontaneous abortion as the study group, at the same time, selecting the 30 normal early pregnant women as the control group, everyone was diagnosed by ultrasonicexamination on the day of seeing a doctor, collecting 4ml blood of vein, 4 ,3000rpm, centrifuge 30 minutes, examine the concentration of FS to everyone and HCG to everyone whose pregnant day was 42-43 days. FS kits was supplied by the experiment of neuroendocri-nology of Bethune Medical University, HCG examination was performed in Anshan Central Hospital. The Check results were showed u-sing X S, analyzing the data using the t-test, and comparing the correlation of FS and HCG.Results1. The serum FS concentration of expectant mother with early spontaneou abortion is 6. 71 1. 20ng/ml, while the serum FS concentration of normal expectant mother is 9. 34 1. 7Ing/ml, the difference of the two groups is significant (p <0. 01).2. The serum HCG concentration of expectant mother with early spontaneou abortion is 99. 50 5. 18mg/ml, while the serum HCG concentration of normal expectant mother is 423. 88 9. 86mg/ml, the difference of the two groups is significant (p <0.01).3.
