The Value Of Testing Serum Macrophage Colony-stimulating-factor In Ovarian Carcinoma And Endometrial Carcinoma

Objective: To study the relationship of serum Macrophage colony-stimulating-factor and ovarian carcinoma, endometrial carcinoma, through testing the level of serum M-CSF in patients with ovarian and endometrial carcinomas, and combined with serum CA125 , see its value to diagnose these two carcinomas, monitor the development of diseases, evaluate the effect of treatment and prognosisMethods: inpatients without previous treatments were respectively from Department of Gynaecology of the first affiliated hospital and affiliated oncological hospital of Guangxi Medical University during the period from May 2003 to February 2004. All patients were clinically diagnosed, of them, 30 with ovarian carcinoma, 30 with benign ovarian tumour as control group; 20 with endometrial carcinoma, 20 with myoma of uterus; besides, 20 healthy women from Department of Physical Examinations were enrolled as normal control group. Blood Samples were collected from all people involved, serum M-CSF and CA125 levels were tested respectively by radio immunological assay and ELISA ,Also serum M-CSF and CA125 levels were tested on post operation 20 ,40 day in ovarian and endometrial carcinoma patients.Results: pre-operative mean of serum M-CSF(RIA) in groups of ovarian carcinomas : 3.321±1.085ng/ml,in groups of benign ovarian tumours : 2.021±0.388 ng/ml,in normal control groups : 1.720±0.568ng/ml；mean of serum M-CSF in stageⅠof ovarian carcinomas 2.671±1.085ng/ml, stageⅡ:2.944±0.767ng/ml,stage Ⅲ期 4.025±1.259 ng/ml. pre-operative mean of serum CA125(MEIA)in groups of ovarian carcinomas : 233.48±229.807 u/ml ,in groups of benign ovarian tumours : 11.934±11.274u/ml ,in normal control groups : 14.913±8.566u/ml , mean of serum CA125 in stageⅠof ovarian carcinomas : 67.506±49.191u/ml,stageⅡ : 147.048±114.923u/ml,p>0.05；stageⅢ: 429.491±262.588u/ml .pre-operative mean of serum M-CSF(RIA) in groups of endometrial carcinomas:2.986±1.047ng/ml ,in groups of uterus myoma : 1.982±0.363ng/ml,in normal control groups : 1.720±0.568；pre-operative mean of serum CA125 in groups of endometrial carcinoma:132.041±154.635u/ml ,in groups of uterus myoma: 20.758±10.180u/ml ,in normal control groups : 14.913±8.566u/ml；mean of serum M-CSF in stageⅠof endometrial carcinomas : 2.381±0.353ng/ml,over stage Ⅱ: 3.724±1.153ng/ml,；mean of serum CA125 in stageⅠof ovarian carcinomas : 42.494±25.864u/ml,over StageⅡ: 241.488±177.349u/ml .pre-operation compared with post-operation,in ovarian carcinomas: pre-operative mean of serum M-CSF :3.321±1.085ng/ml is higher than post-operative 20day : 2.251±0.531ng/ml(P<0.01), post-operative 20day is higher than post-operative40day: 1.910±0.476ng/ml but P>0.05. pre-operative mean of serum CA125: 233.48±229.807u/ml is higher than post-operative 20day:62.890±58.243u/ml,p <0.01；post-operative 20day is higher than post-operative 40day:28.467±24.458u/ml,p>0.05. in endometrial carcinomas: pre-operative mean of serumM-CSF 2.986±1.047ng/ml is higher than post-operative 20day 2.084±0.664ng/ml (P<0.01),post-operative20day is higher than post-operative40day 1.669±0.557ng/ml, but P>0.05。pre-operative mean of serum CA125132.041±154.635u/ml is higher than post-operative 20day31.786±26.728u/ml(p<0.01), post-operative 20day is higher than post-operative 40day 21.076.±16.265u/ml,p>0.05.The positive rate of serumM-CSF in stageⅠovarian carcinoma is 46.2％％,CA125 is 30.8% ,combination is 84.6% ；over stageⅡ, MCSF is 64.7% ,CA125 is 59.2% ,combination is 94.1% ；The positive rate of serum M-CSF in endometrial carcinoma stageⅠis 36.4% ,CA125 is 27.3% , combination is 63.6%；over stage II , M-CSF is 55.6% ,CA125 44.4% ,combination is 88.9% . Conclusion: M-CSF is closely associated with ovarian and endometrial carcinomas, positive correlation presents with surgical staging, no relation is linked to histological types; the rate of early diagnosis is higher with combination of testing serum M-CSF and CA125 levels than CA125 alone; M-CSF cant be used as a sensit...
