Objective To study the relations between plasma homocysteine(Hcy)and atherosclerosis ,cerebral infarction. Methods 91 cerebral infarction patients were included in this study.By thesize of cerebral infarction(CI),patients were divided into three subgroups:large infarction(21),small infarction(44) and lacunar infarction(26).Accordingto the results of carotid Doppler ultrasongraphy, patients were re-divide intotwo subgroups: CI with carotid atherosclerotic plaque(34) and CI withoutplaque(57). The relations between Hey and hypertension, diabetes, blood Hpid, sex, age, the size of cerebra infarction, carotid atherosclerotic plaque,vitaminBi2, serumfolic acid were analyzed. Results (1) Relations between Hey and hypertension, diabetes, blood Hpid, sex, age were not significant.(2) There were nocorrelations between Hey and the size of cerebra infarction.(3)Hcylevel in CI with carotid atherosclerotic plaque was higher than thatin CI without plaque(P<0.05).(4)Negative correlation was foundbetween Hey and the level of vitaminB^and serum folic acid(r,s=-0.264,r2s=-0.16,P<0.05).Conclusion Plasma Hey level had a close correspondence withcarotid atherosclerotic plaque, while no correlation with the size ofHomocysteine, Atherosclerosis and Cerebral infarctron Abstractcerebra infarction. It suggested that high level of Hey may be thedangerous factor of carotid atherosclerotic, and the relation withcerebra infarction was still not clear.
