| [Purpose] In order to find out the present status of radiotherapy in some areas of china, which included the facilities, the manpower and the capital investment associated with radiotherapy. Investigated and analysis the current status of radiotherapy in Suzhou city, particularly .[Methods] All the data were collected by questionnaire and then were analysis.[Results] There were 5 linear accelerators, 4 Cobalt-60 machines and 37.5 doctors, 27 technicians, 6.5 physicists, 5 engineers in 6 hospitals which were investigated. Three hospitals in Suzhou city established radiotherapy department, the facilities included 2 linear accelerators, 1 Cobalt-60 machine, All there were 19 doctors, 9 technicians, 2 physicists and 3 engineers in active service. The ratio of doctors and technicians was 5.77:1 in all hospitals which were investigated and 9:1 in Suzhou city respectively. The average fixed capitals and annual operating costs of linear accelerator and Cobalt-60 machine were 12.17, 0.56 and 2.64, 0.30 million RMB yuan respectively. The costs per fraction was 75.38 RMB yuan for linacs and29.84 RMB yuan for cobalts. The costs of QC/QA were 17350 and 5000RMB yuan for linacs and cobalts respectively. They had spent 396 hours and 96 hours on QC/QA for linacs and cobalts respectively.[Conclusion] The linear accelerator was a appropriate machine for radiotherapy. The function of cobalt was simplex, but its capital costs and maintenances were inexpensive. It was appropriatly invested in small hospitals. To reduced the costs per fraction, we should select a appropriate machine, reduce costs of maintenance and increase the useage of machines. The work of QC/QA was very weakness, so we should increase the fund and time on it. According to the population and cancer incidence in Suzhou city, the resources of radiotherapy is relative insufficient, both the facilities and the medical physicists. |
