The Probation Of Acupuncture Therapeutics On Metabolic Syndrome

Metabolic Syndrome (MeS) is a clinical syndrome, which is relevant with diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease, and so on. It is one of the hot points of research, on which many global medicine branches put more interests. The core chain of MeS is insulin resistance (IR), which is connected with diabetes, obesity, and dyslipidemia. IR is one of the most important observation signals of prevention and treatment on MS.In the theoretical part, the pathogenesis of MeS, the study methods, the therapeutic condition of Chinese and western medicine were summed up. By reviewing and summarizing the ancient and modern Chinese medicine documents, we superficially think stagnated heat of liver and stomach is the basic mechanic for MeS. Provide the theoretic basis for acupuncture on MeS.Before being attacked, most of patients experience the step of overeating and relatively-fat shape and in the early and middle periods of the morbidity, they always are accompanied by the stagnated heat of liver and stomach syndromes of bitter and dry taste of mouth, restlessness, dry bowlers, red tongue and yellow floating, fasting or slippery pulse, so on. We based the treatment on this principle, adopting acupuncture and achieving initially curative effect. The mechanics of acupuncture on MS may be relevant with the roles that the acupuncture plays on losing weights, decreasing the blood contents of TG, LDL-C, glucose and APO-A and also increasing the patients' insulin sensitive index, improving IR. In order to affirm the curative effect of acupuncture on MS, we design a clinical experimental frame preliminarily. 150 patients with fatty shape and the symptoms of stagnated heat syndrome in the liver and stomach were adopted for study objects by the clinical method of single blindness and random control. Contrasted with simple western medicine treatment and the combination of western medicine and acupuncture, the change of WHR, insulin sensitive index, lipid, blood pressure can be observed in order to understand the clear-cut effect of acupuncture on MeS.There are no significant results from acupuncture about MeS. Our research debates the disease from the point of differentiation and treatment to achieve more knowledge about it and hope to find the optimal treatment methods of acupuncture.
