Objective:To observe the effect of Xiao Zhi Tang(XZT) in early intervention for insulin resistance(IR) of Metabolic syndrome(MS).Methods:Experimental methods of random and control were adopted.40 eligible patients were divided into treatment group(20 cases) and control group(20 cases). On the same basic treatment, patients with IR of MS were treated with XZT and controlled with Metformin(MET) for 3 months.Clinical symptoms, insulin resistance index(IRI),insulin sensitivity index(ISI),fasting insulin level(FINS),waist circumference(WC),body mass index(BMI),blood glucose, lipid metabolism and blood pressure were observed and compared. Results:The total effective rate of clinical symptoms integration,IRI, ISI and combined effect were 90%,85%and 85%in the treatment group, and were 70%,75%and 70%in the control group. The clinical symptoms in the treatment group was significantly improved after treatment than in the control group(P<0.01).All that FINS,IRI,ISI,WC,BMI,TG,FPG,2hPG, HbAlc were significantly improved(P<0.01),TC,HDL—C,LDL—C were showed statistical significance(P<0.05) after treatment compared to pretherapy, there were no significantly deviation among them after treatment.Blood pressure levels in both groups were showed no significantly deviation before and after treatment. Conclusion:XZT have the effects in improving insulin resistance, raising the sensitivity of insulin and retrieving the metabolic disorder of central obesity and glucolipid in early intervention for IR of MS.
