Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) has been used in clinical therapy since the end of 1970's. The clinical indications have been extended with the mechanism of IVIg known gradually .It exerts a broad range of immunoregularoty functions that provide a basis for the beneficial effects of IVIg in autoimmune and systemic inflammatory disorders. This review focuses on Mechanisms of action of IVIg on humoral and cellular inmmunity that may be of relevance for the treatment of the diseases mentioned above and application of IVIg in pediatrics.
