| Objective: To investigate the prevalence rate of metabolic syndrome(MS) and distribution features in a rich community in Wenjiang Chengdu ; To explore the effect in prevalence rate of MS by different diagnosis criterion ;And analyze the prevalence rate of each risk factor of MS in the community .Methods: Data were gathered from the information of physical examination of 3652 subjects (20-84yr of age) , living in the community .The criterion is defined by NCEP-ATPIII and Chinese Diabetes Society( CDS) criterion , moreover ,by the criterion of the abdominal obesity from European Group for the study of Insulin Resistance (EGIR) and the new criterion of IFG from American Diabetes Association(ADA),the modified ATPIII criterion was defined as having at least three of the following: <1> WC:M>94cm, F>80cm; <2>TG>1.69mmol/L ; <3>HDL-C :M>1.04mmol/L, F<1.29mmol/L; <4>Blood pressure: SBP≥ 130mmHg and (or)DBP≥85mmHg;<5>FBG≥5.6mmol/L or being DM or IGT; Modified CDS criterion was defined as having at least two of the following: <1>BMI≥25.0 (kg/m~2); <2>FPG≥6.1mmol/L and (or) being DM ; <3>SBP/DBP≥140/90mmHg and (or)being hypertension ; <4>TG≥1.70mmol/L and (or) HDL-C: M<0.9mmol/L,F<1.0mmol/L.Results: According to the ATPIII criterion ,the prevalence rate of MS in this community was 12.5% ( M 13.56%,F 12.01%); according to the CDS , modified CDS and modified ATPIII criterion ,the each prevalence rate of MS was 6.31 % (M 4.89%,F 5.65%) ,19.20% (M 20.52%,F 19.9%) and 15.69% (M 16.33%,F15.97%) respectively .The prevalence rate of MS are significantly different between the criteria by multiple logistic regression. (P for trend =0.000,chi-square =306.233) .The prevalence rate of MS by modified ATPIII and CDS criterion is higher than that by ATPIII (P=0.000) .In the same way ,the prevalence rate of MS in man is higher than that in women (P=0.012) .The prevalence of MS is different by age (P=0.000) ,while ,there is no difference between 60~and 70~ age group .We also analyze the prevalence rate of each risk factor in the investigated population. Conclusion: The prevalence rate of MS is significantly different by different diagnosis criterion. Gender and age are important effect factors for prevalence. MS, obesity, hypertension, hypertriglyceridemia, IFG and DM have high prevalence rate in the community .Our results have important significance to healthy education and prevention of cardiovascular disease and DM in this community . |
