| PURPOSE: To compare the postoperative graft rejection, endothelial cell density and astigmatism of deep lamellar keratoplasty (DLK) with penetrating keratoplasty (PK) on rabbits.METHODS: 20 rabbits randomized in two groups and 40 eyes respectively undergoing DLK and PK. Perform slit lamp microscope, corneal topography and corneal endothelial density measure in 1 month and 3 month after operation. Statistical analyzes were performed by SPSS for Windows (version 11.5) using chi(2)-tests and repeated measure to compare the two groups.RESULTS:. In 3 month, the corneal clear rate respectively is 80% and 60% for PK group and DLEK group. Five eyes of PK group had graft rejection. Four eyes of DLEK group had graft rejection. All eyes of DLEK group had space between lamellar and the eighteen gradually disappeared in three weeks. One eye didn't disappear all the time. There is no significant difference in avoiding graft rejection between the PK and DLK groups (P>0.05). The postoperative endothelial cell density average of PK group and DLEK group in 1 month and 3 month is respectively 1863.77±316.09 cell/mm2, 1679.32±272.72 cell/mm2 and 1491.53±301.88 cell/mm2, 1348.58±266.31cell/mm2 (P<0.05), and there is significant difference between thetwo groups. Astigmatism average of PK group and DLEK group is respectively 4.68±2.24D, 4.60±2.22Dand 2.20+1.24D, 2.15 + 1.13 D (P<0.05). The difference between the two groups is significant.CONCLUSION: The graft rejection rate of PK group and DLEK group has no significant. And the postoperative endothelial cell density average and astigmatism average of DLEK group is less than PK group. The DLEK is a promising operation technique and it has advantages and defects compared with PK. It still needs more study and promotion in approach. |
