| Objective: The functional obstacle to ovulation is one of the important factors causing women to be infertile. According to her clinical experiences for many years, on the basis of traditional Chinese medical theory, Professor Li Shuling put forward that the spleen and kidney deficiency is the basic onset and process of this disease and "Chong" and "Ren" pulse injury is the direct cause. Therefore, she has developed kidney-benefiting and conception-aiding capsule which can invigorate the fuction of kidney and the spleen and negulate the "Chong" and "Ren" pulse, recuperate qi and invigorate blood circulation. This study is aimed at observing the clinical curative effect of this kind of medicine when treating the functional obstacle to ovulation. This study also explains the pathology mechanism of infertility as well as the characteristics of the coming on of this disease. Methods: Forty- eight patients were divided into two groups, the first group (the blockade group, 32 cases ) treated with the kidney-benefiting and conception-aiding capsule and the second group (the control group, 16 cases treated with western medicine, clomiphene citrate. Clinical observations were carried out on the two groups before and after using medicines respectively, complemented with routine gynecological inspection, the endocrine determinationand ultrasonography monitoring. Then the two groups were compared, analyzed and summarized. Three months is a course of treatment. Results: The ovulating rate and the pregnancy rate of the two groups were almost the same. The rates of the blockade group were slightly higher than those of the control group The ovulating rate and the pregnancy rate of the contral group were respectively 66. 7% and 56. 7% while those of the blockade group were respectively 75% and 50%(p >0. 05). The following symptoms such as irregular menstruation, lumbago and dizziness have been effectively regulated among the blockade group obviously better than the other group treated with western medicine. Thr total effect rate of the blockade group wes 88. 41% while the rate of the control group wes 53. 2%( p<0.05). Among the blockade group , Serum E2, P, Lh, FSh content have risen notably after treatment while PRL content has obviously dropped. Dynamic ultrasonography observations in succession showed that the ova and the uterine membrane obviously increased after every time phase (p<0. 050. 01) and they were higher among the blockade group than the control group. In terms of treatment effects, there was significant difference neither between patients subdivided according to syndiome pattein in the blockade group nor between patients subdivided according to western pathology. The kidney-benefiting and conception-aiding capsule has no harmful effects on human blood , liver and kidney function. Clinical observations showed no bad reactions.Conclusion:(1)The kidney-benefiting and conception-aiding capsule helps to bring about ovulation. This function is probably realized by means of the comprehensive functions of the lower thalamus, hypophysis and ovary sex hormone. It is likely that this function has certain relation with the lower thalamus - hypophysis - ovary sex hormone synthesis, supersession, regulation and feedback. Its function is notfixed on a certain position in the gonad axle while it can achieve an effect of wholly regulating. (2)The kidney-benefiting and conception-aiding capsule has sound curative effect on the functional obstacle to ovulation and is superior to the common western medicineclomiphene citrate in the respect of improving the symptoms, regulating menstrual cycle, which reflects the traditional Chinese medical thought that "menstruation should be regulated before pregnancy. " "Regulating menstruation" includes regulating menstrual cycle, the ova and the growth of the uterine membrane, which is the incomparable special advantage of traditional Chinese medicine compared with Western medicine. (3)The treatment effects of the kidney-benefiting and conception-aiding capsule embodies traditional Chinese medical thought that "kidney plays the most important role in reproduction " . |
