Objective: To investigate the effects of thyroid hormone on regeneration of mature rat Leydig cells by observing the regeneration of Leydig cells after ethane dimethane sulphonate (EDS) treatment with NBT method, HE staining and magnetic enzyme immunoassay method under hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism condition. Methods: Fifty-four 90 day-old male SD rats were applied in this study and EDS (85mg/kg) was injected intraperitoneally only once to destroy Leydig cells. After EDS treatment, 54 rats were divided into 3 groups at random: hyperthyroidism group, hypothyroidism group and control group, each group had 18 rats.Hyperthyroidism group: triiodothyronine (T3) (60μg/kg) was injected hypodermically once a day to establish hyperthyroidism rats model. Hypothyroidism group: 50mg propylthiouracil water solution was lavaged once a day to build hypothyroidism rats model. Control group: 0.8ml saline containing 0.025M NaOH was injected hypodermically.7th day, 14th day and 21st day after EDS treatment, the rats were anaesthetized and specimens were taken to observe the following indexes.①Regeneration of Leydig cells: The testes...
