Background Thoracic epidural block (TEB) was firstly applied to treat the patient with unstable angina pectoris by Blomberg in 1989 in Sweden, and had better effects; Latest researches have discovered TEB may improve cardiac function and reduce cardiac cavities of patients with myocardial disease or heart failure, But there are no related reports on specific pathways and mechanisms of TEB on heart failure.Objective To investigate the protective effects and mechanism of thoracic epidural block on heart failure after myocardial infarction in rabbits by observing the haemodynamics, left cardiac function, level of ANP and ET in blood plasma,β-receptor density of left ventricular myocardium,β1 mRNA expression in left ventricular myocardium and AQP4 mRNA expression in lung tissue.Methods The 60 rabbits which were punctured at T5~6 of thoracic epidural cavity and put into epidural catheter were randomly divided into three groups(n=20): sham operation group (group S), the anterior descending branches of left coronary artery was threaded by suture but not...
