Objective: To explore the relationship between plasma fibrinogen (FIB) and atherosclerosis in type 2 diabetic patients. Methods: Regarding FIB as a risk factor, diabetes mellitus with atherosclerosis as case group, diabetes mellitus without atherosclerosis as control group, We undergo corelation study for the two groups. Results: The level of age, course of disease, TC, LDL-C, FBI and SBP of case group are higher than those of control group (p<0.05). Age, LDL-C and FIB are the risk factors for atherosclerosis in type 2 diabetic patients. FIB is more attributive to atherosclerosis in diabetic patients than age and LDL-C. The most important factors associated with FIB are BMI and course of disease. Conclusion: Age, LDL-C and FIB are the risk factors for atherosclerosis in type 2 diabetic patients. BMI and course of disease are the most important factors associated with FIB.
