Objective: The research developments about the causes, the pathogenesis and treatments of dysmenorrhea on both Western and Chinese medicine are showed in this article. The curative effect of Gexia Zhuyu Tang on dysmenorrhea of qi-stagnation and blood-stasis are evaluated also in this study. Method: The observations and tallies on the out-patients before and after the treatment had been carried out during Dec., 2003 and Mar., 2005. The observational items such as nausea, vomit, mammary swelling, abdominal pain, diarrhea, distension of the chest or hypochondria, restless and liable to be angry, are included. Result: Relief of dysmenorrhea is remarkable, as well as the incidental symptoms after 3-menstrual-cycle treatment. Conclusion: Most of dysmenorrhea is caused by stagnation of Qi and Xue due to mental depression, malajustment of Chongren. Gexia Zhuyu Tang, which can activate blood to eliminate stagnation and regulate Qi to alleviate pain, can improve dysmenorrhea of qi-stagnation and blood-stasis definitely. The total effective rate was 87%. Dysmenorrhea is a significant issue for many women. A woman' s quality of life may be significantly affected by a monthly disruption of her routines, her ability to fulfill her daily work and study. Its treatment is worthy of further discussion. |
